A new report confirms that Huawei is nearing complete control over the production of its smartphones, with the Pura 70 series production relying significantly on configurations made in China, accounting for 90%.
Chinese tech giant Huawei has faced numerous challenges in smartphone production recently due to US restrictions, which imposed many conditions on the company. Ultimately, these restrictions led to delays and a decrease in Huawei’s global smartphone market share.
The latest reports from a Japanese research firm indicate that Huawei’s recent Pura 70 series heavily relies on configurations produced by Chinese companies, including Lens Technology, Goertek, Csun, Sunny Optical, as well as BOE, and Crystal-Optech.
The report also confirms that these companies have provided up to 90% of the configurations for the Pura 70 smartphones, including processors, batteries, screens, external phone structures, and other components.
The Pura 70 Ultra phone is one of the versions that heavily relies on configurations produced outside the Chinese market, including the advanced Kirin 9010 processor and the phone’s main camera, requiring rare technologies in the Chinese market.
Furthermore, the report indicates that Huawei is moving towards achieving its goal of full domestic production of configurations for its smartphones. A report from IDC revealed that both Huawei and Honor have already captured a significant share of smartphone sales in the Chinese market in the first quarter of 2024.
The Pura 70 series has contributed to boosting Huawei’s smartphone sales again, with phone inventory depleted after a significant increase in pre-orders since the series was launched.
