The search bar on YouTube for Android has received a new integration with Google Lens, for those who have enabled it, opening the full-screen search page reveals the Google Lens icon in the top-right corner.

It appears alongside the search bar and microphone, simply leading to the activation of Google Lens on the familiar camera interface.

Google Lens is used to identify objects and perform OCR (optical character recognition) to recognize text if nothing else is determined.

For example, snapping a photo of an iPhone 13 Mini triggers the visual search tool to display a “Search in YouTube” circle. Clicking on any of the results inputs this query into a YouTube search.

There’s also the broader “Search on Google” option, a direct extension of visual search, reflecting Google’s aim to provide more ways for people to find things beyond text and voice.

Google Lens in YouTube search has yet to be widely rolled out but appears on all devices logged into the same account.
