Microsoft is preparing more new features for Phone Link, its connection between Windows and Android. Soon, this will include placing Phone Link directly on the Start menu in Windows 11.

In an announcement today, Microsoft stated it will integrate Phone Link into the Start menu of Windows 11. This will place the status of your phone and shortcuts to key tools alongside your list of applications.

Currently, you have to open the Phone Link app to access these options manually. For example, if you want to start a text message through Phone Link, you will now be able to do so more quickly via the Start menu.

Microsoft also mentioned that users will be able to access recent activities from their phones through the Start menu. This will only work with Android for now, with iOS support “coming later.”

This is being rolled out now in the beta version using Phone Link version 1.24052.124.0 and Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3790. It is not yet clear when this will be available to all users.
