Starting today, the WhatsApp application will receive some new text formatting options to enhance your chatting experience.

You could already use bold, italic, and strikethrough text formatting before, but the additions open up a whole new world of possibilities, with the availability of bulleted lists, numbered lists, blockquotes, and inline code formatting now on Android, iOS, web, and Mac systems.

WhatsApp Gets New Text Formatting Options

The image above explains in detail what’s new and how you can use these formatting options. It’s very easy to summon them all when needed.

To get a bulleted list, simply place a “-” symbol before the text followed by a space, then continue adding more items to the list by repeating the process.

The same applies to numbered lists, except in this case, you can add the number followed by a period and a space like this: “1”. Then “2.” and so on.

For blockquotes, all you need is the “>” symbol followed by a space, and what follows will be a blockquote.

Finally, if you want to input inline code, simply wrap the text in “" – Here’s an example.
