Vivo Officially Unveils the Foldable Phones vivo X Fold3 and Fold3 Pro

Vivo has introduced a new generation of foldable phones to the market, including the Vivo X Fold3, which is the lighter version among the foldable models, along with the vivo X Fold3 Pro.

The new generation of vivo foldable phones comes with a more durable design and a lighter, slimmer profile. The vivo X Fold3 weighs 219 grams, making it one of the lightest inward-folding phones. In contrast, the Honor V Purse phone features an outward-folding design without an external screen and boasts a slim design with a thickness of 10.2mm.

Both the vivo X Fold3 and Fold3 Pro share the same specifications for their displays. The internal screen features an 8.03-inch size with a resolution of 2480 by 2200 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and uses Samsung’s E7 display with a brightness of 4500 nits.

The external screen on the Q9 Plus model measures 6.53 inches with a resolution of 1172 by 2748 pixels, also supporting a 120Hz refresh rate and 4500 nits of brightness.

The vivo X Fold3 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, coupled with Vivo’s custom V3 image chip. It comes in two variants, one with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and the other with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, featuring LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage standards.

The camera setup includes a main 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50H sensor with a 1/1.3 sensor size and an f/1.68 aperture with optical stabilization. The second sensor is the OV64B with a 64-megapixel resolution, supporting 3x optical zoom, and the JN1 sensor from Samsung with a wide-angle view of 119 degrees and a 50-megapixel resolution.

The vivo X Fold3 features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, available with either 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage or 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It does not include Vivo’s custom V3 image chip.

The rear camera setup includes a 50-megapixel IMX920 sensor from Sony with a 1/1.49 sensor size and an f/1.75 aperture with optical stabilization. There’s also the IMX816 sensor for portrait shots and a wide-angle 50-megapixel JN1 sensor from Samsung. Both phones also feature a 32-megapixel selfie camera.

Both the vivo X Fold3 and Fold3 Pro feature a carbon fiber hinge weighing 14.98 grams and adhere to TÜV Rhineland standards for reducing the blue light impact on the eyes. Vivo claims an 11x enhancement to the front design and a 15x enhancement to the rear design compared to the previous X Fold2, with improved screen durability with UTG.

The X Fold3 Pro supports IPX8 water resistance, while the standard version offers IPX4 water and dust resistance. The Pro version includes a 5700mAh battery with 100W fast charging and 50W wireless charging, while the standard X Fold3 has a 5500mAh battery and supports 80W fast charging.

Both versions support dual 5G SIM cards, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, and an infrared (IR) blaster. The Pro version includes a USB 3.2 Gen2 port and stereo speakers with Lossless Hi-Fi support, while both phones have mute switches.

The Pro version features two 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensors, while the X Fold comes with a side fingerprint sensor and SpeakerBoost 5.0 technology for audio enhancements.

The vivo X Fold3 is expected to be available in the main model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for $970, in black and white color options, while the main model of the vivo X Fold3 Pro with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is priced at $1385.
