Users of TikTok have started receiving pop-up notifications about a new app that the social media company plans to launch shortly.

The app is called Notes and allows users to share photos much like Instagram.

Reports from TechCrunch indicate that TikTok has already confirmed the development of the Notes app, but the company has not provided a timeline for the release of the photo-sharing app.

The notification received by many TikTok users in the past couple of weeks states that Notes is a “new app for photo posts.”

TikTok also clarifies that “current and future public TikTok photo posts will be displayed on TikTok Notes.”

Fortunately, TikTok will offer an option to opt out of the app: “If you prefer not to display your public TikTok photo posts on TikTok Notes, turn this off now.”

The upcoming Notes app is not the only project TikTok is currently working on. The company is also experimenting with different formats such as text posts and long-form videos.
