Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its very first electric car, after years of anticipation. The car will be the stylish electric sedan SU7, set to be released on March 28.

The SU7 car will be available for test drives for customers starting from March 25, with reservations already open. Interested individuals can view the showcased car at any of the 59 stores spread across 29 Chinese cities.

Pricing remains a key speculation point for the SU7. While Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun hinted that it might be “a bit pricey,” industry leaks suggest a price range between 250,000 and 370,000 Chinese Yuan (approximately €32,600 – €48,500).

This premium price places the SU7 in direct competition with established rivals like the Tesla Model 3. It’s a bold move, as Xiaomi will need to convince buyers that the promised SU7 technology and smooth user experience justify the cost.

Building on the strong points of the car, Xiaomi aims to provide an unmatched driving experience compared to competitors. The company promises an experience where your car isn’t just a means of transport but an extension of your smartphone and smart home, creating a truly personalized user experience.

The Xiaomi SU7 base will feature a rear-wheel-drive motor generating 299 horsepower and 400 Newton-meters of torque. This translates to a fast acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and a respectable top speed of 210 km/h.

With dimensions of 4,997mm in length, 1,963mm in width, and 1,455mm in height, the SU7 promises a spacious interior design.

Additionally, Xiaomi’s car boasts an impressive WLTP range of 668 km for its base model, thanks to a 73.6 kWh battery pack.

The performance-focused variant features a dual-motor setup and all-wheel drive. With an overall power of 673 horsepower, the SU7 Max accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 265 km/h.

Xiaomi also touts a massive 101 kWh battery pack for this variant, promising a WLTP range of 821 km.

This focus on performance and extended range likely aims to directly compete with high-performance electric cars from established brands, hinting at more powerful (and costly) versions of the SU7 in the future.

The interior design of the SU7 revolves around the driver with advanced technology at the forefront. The large, clear 3K resolution central screen and flat-bottomed steering wheel add a sporty touch.

Xiaomi is said to use the powerful Snapdragon 8295 chip to power the infotainment system. This, along with leaks suggesting wide-ranging controls in sound and gestures, indicates a goal of creating a seamless, highly responsive interface integrated with Xiaomi’s smart device ecosystem.
