The latest reports have revealed new details about the chips supporting the iPhone 17 Pro, confirming that the A19 Pro chip will not be based on 2-nanometer manufacturing accuracy.

A previous report from DigiTimes indicated that TSMC has begun work on developing a new generation of premium processor chips with 2-nanometer manufacturing accuracy, with mass production of these chips expected to begin in 2025.

The report also noted that the iPhone 17 Pro will feature the A19 Pro chip, which was previously said to rely on 2-nanometer manufacturing accuracy to support these versions.

Apple has outperformed chip manufacturing giants Qualcomm and MediaTek in developing premium chips with 3-nanometer manufacturing accuracy, with the A17 Pro chip currently standing out as the first premium chip with 3-nanometer manufacturing accuracy.

A previous report also indicated that the A19 Pro chip, set to be officially launched in 2025, would rely on 2-nanometer manufacturing accuracy, but a new report has denied these details, confirming that the A19 Pro chip will not feature the new manufacturing process.

The new report indicates that TSMC is preparing to begin mass production of premium chips with 2-nanometer manufacturing accuracy in the second half of 2026.

It is worth mentioning that the new details suggest that the A20 Pro and MediaTek 9600 chips will feature TSMC’s new manufacturing process with 2-nanometer accuracy.
