Sonos is currently delving into the realm of headphones. The company seems poised to compete directly with Apple and Bose in the headphone market.

Rumours began surfacing about Sonos headphones last year after the company acquired T2 Software, a startup specializing in Bluetooth technology.

Sonos’ ambitious plan comprises several audio peripherals, but the most notable products are those above $400 headphones and the Television Decoding Device (STB), priced between $150 and $200.

According to Bloomberg’s report, it’s evident that the STB will rival Apple and Roku and is expected to be launched around the end of 2024, while the headphones are likely to be released in April.

The company also looks forward to introducing new speakers, ceiling speakers, advanced TV speakers, new amplifiers, an update to the portable Roam speaker, and a commercial release of the Era 100 speaker. Additionally, they plan to unveil an updated voice control system and video service.

This isn’t Sonos’ first attempt at trying out headphones. They’ve been trying to penetrate the headphone market since 2019 and have created several product iterations. However, these have not seen the light of day, making this release significant.
