The Korean giant has announced its latest release of LPDDR5X memory, which boasts a speed of 10.7 gigabits per second to support artificial intelligence technology.

The LPDDR5X random-access memory, the world’s fastest memory, is aimed at supporting AI technology in mobile devices and servers.

The memory comes as an upgrade over the previous LPDDR5X memory, which offered a speed of 8.5 gigabits per second, surpassing the LPDDR5T memory with its distinctive speed of 9.6 gigabits per second, introduced by SK Hynix last year.

The new LPDDR5X memory has seen a 25% performance improvement compared to Samsung’s previous X version. The performance upgrade is not limited to speed only, as the new memory chip is based on a 12-nanometer manufacturing process, making the chip smaller in size.

With the smaller memory size comes a 30% larger capacity. Samsung has also emphasized that these memory enhancements aim to boost artificial intelligence technology.

Additionally, the chip supports a 25% reduction in power consumption and low-power mode to extend battery life in mobile devices. Samsung is set to commence mass production of the distinctive LPDDR5X memory with a speed of 10.7 gigabits per second in the second half of this year.
