Samsung Reveals Details of Exynos 1480 Chipset

Korean giant Samsung has officially unveiled the specifications of the Exynos 1480 chipset, which was recently introduced in its mid-range Galaxy A55 edition.

Samsung confirmed that the new Exynos 1480 processor is based on a 4-nanometer EUV manufacturing process, marking the first release in the mid-range segment with the Eclipse 530 graphics card, which is based on AMD RDNA architecture.

Samsung also pointed out that the Exynos 1480 chip comes with improvements in GPU performance by 53% compared to the company’s previous Exynos 1380 version.

Additionally, the chipset supports variable refresh rate technology with higher display quality for advanced content processing.

The architecture of this version differs from the company’s previous processor, as the new processor includes 2 Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.75 GHz and 6 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz.

The chipset also brings improvements in connectivity, offering faster performance in 5G network download speeds, and it supports Wi-Fi 6E standards.

The chipset supports LPDDR4x or LPDDR5 RAM standards and UFS 3.1 storage capacity. It can handle a single camera with a resolution of 200 megapixels, a single camera with a resolution of 64 megapixels at 30 frames per second, or a dual-camera setup with a resolution of 32 megapixels at 30 frames per second, or 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.

Moreover, the chipset supports FHD Plus display quality, a 144Hz refresh rate, as well as Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.
