Samsung Prepares to Produce LPDDR6 Memory to Support AI Technology in Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Processor

Korean giant Samsung is working on finalizing and adopting the new LPDDR6 memory in preparation for production to support the next generation of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processors with new artificial intelligence features.

An industry source confirmed Samsung’s efforts to finalize LPDDR6 memory standards in JEDEC with the aim of starting mass production of random access memory as soon as possible.

Expectations indicate that Samsung will provide LPDDR6 random access memory chips in the second half of this year, ready to support Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processors in premium versions of smartphones for advanced generative artificial intelligence tasks exceeding 10 billion operations.

Qualcomm previously introduced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip with an NPU that supports a billion generative AI operations in devices. With AI operations exceeding 10 billion, AI will be able to efficiently perceive video content, create more accurate algorithms, and improve the overall performance of smartphones.

Details about Samsung’s new LPDDR6 memory standards are not clear yet, but expectations suggest that details of the new memory will be revealed after Samsung officially adopts the new standards. It is expected to be available in smartphones scheduled for release in 2025 with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor.
