The Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro enters the competition in the gaming phone market with a more powerful processor and a larger battery capacity. In the following paragraphs, we’ll highlight all the features of this version.

 Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro

In this version, Nubia adopts the same distinctive design language of the RedMagic 8 series, known for its high-quality manufacturing and professional gaming-oriented appearance.

The phone comes in a sleek silver box with the Red Magic branding. It features a sturdy metal design on the back with elegant aesthetic touches.

The Red Magic 8S Pro includes a headphone jack and distinctive gaming triggers with touch sensitivity, along with a power button, volume controls, and a SIM card slot, all of which are aligned with the 8 Pro.

Additionally, Nubia offers some improvements in RGB effects compared to the 8 Pro version, allowing users to customize the lighting for different applications and actions on the phone, such as charging or notifications, and users can also choose to turn off RGB effects.

Overall, the design of the Red Magic 8S Pro surpasses many competing gaming phones in the market with its professional appearance.

 Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro

The Magic 8S Pro features an AMOLED display with some limited improvements over the company’s previous 8 Pro version. However, the screen offers better display quality at 6.8 inches, with a refresh rate of 120Hz, slightly lower than the recent Asus version with a 144Hz refresh rate. Still, the 120Hz rate supports longer battery life.

The screen has a brightness of 1300 nits, excellent for gaming during daylight hours efficiently. The phone offers user options for display modes (normal, vivid, natural, P3, sRGB).

Moreover, the screen supports up to a billion colors, and features a +FHD display quality, with a pixel density of 400 pixels per inch. The screen also supports the Always-on feature, has a 20:9 aspect ratio, and comes with modes to protect the user’s eyes during gaming.

 Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro

The most notable upgrade in the Red Magic 8S Pro is in the processor, memory, and capacity configurations. Nubia offers this version with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which supports overclocking for stronger performance.

On the other hand, the memory in this version can reach up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM, while the storage capacity reaches up to 1TB in UFS 4.0, providing users with an excellent gaming storage experience, as well as smooth and seamless gaming performance.

These specifications are complemented by a new ICE 12.0 cooling system, which supports performance stability and temperature reduction during intensive gaming. With the stronger performance of this version’s processor, the temperature does not rise above the previous 8 Pro version.

Nubia has stated that the cooling system can support temperature reduction of up to 17 degrees Celsius, and the fan significantly contributes to cooling the phone during gaming sessions.

Moreover, despite the upgrades in configurations of processor and memory, the phone continued to run games for a full day with the remarkable 6000mAh battery capacity only decreasing to 55%.

 Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro

The Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro comes with the Android 13 operating system with the RedMagic 8 OS interface, providing a good experience in a gaming-customized interface with the “Game Space” launcher, offering users a smooth and fast gaming experience with a simplified and clear interface without much complexity.

 Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro

Cameras are not usually the primary focus in gaming phones, but Nubia offers this version with good camera settings on the rear camera, including a 50-megapixel Samsung GN5 main sensor with an F/1.9 lens aperture, an 8-megapixel sensor with a wide-angle lens and an F/2.2 aperture, along with a 2-megapixel sensor and an F/2.4 lens aperture for macro shots.

The camera offers various modes for photography, including night mode, professional mode, as well as a bokeh mode, with features like autofocus and face detection.

Moreover, the camera supports video recording in 8K resolution at 30 frames per second, or in 4K resolution at 60 or 30 frames per second. However, it only supports digital stabilization, so it does not support optical stabilization in photography or video recording.

In practical testing, the camera performed well overall, although it did not perform optimally in low-light conditions.

On the other hand, the selfie camera comes with an integrated design below the screen with a 16-megapixel resolution and an F/2.0 lens aperture, with some photography modes including bokeh, and HDR, and supports video recording at 1080 pixels. The selfie camera does not come with a flash and, overall, does not offer good performance compared to traditional selfie cameras.

This version stands out with a large 6000mAh battery capacity, providing long charging life for users in long gaming sessions. Additionally, the fast charging technology reaches up to 65W for quick battery charging, and with the upgrades offered in this version, the battery maintained good charging levels during gaming throughout the day.

The Red Magic 8S Pro version may not differ much from the previous 8S Pro version in design and many specifications, but the phone combines features that may be worth the upgrade, such as a gaming-specific version with stronger performance thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, as well as the availability of memory up to 24GB RAM, and capacity up to 1TB with the higher battery capacity of 6000mAh.

NUBIA has released the RED MAGIC 8S PRO gaming phone with stronger performance, elegant design, and larger battery capacity to enhance the user experience in gaming.
