Review of Tecno POVA 5 Pro 5G Gaming Phone

Following the trend of sleek designs popularized by Nothing smartphone editions, Tecno has presented the POVA 5 Pro 5G gaming phone with an elegant design language.

The back cover of the phone includes an LED strip that flashes upon receiving notifications, when the battery level is low, or when playing games.

Additionally, the back cover features two prominent protrusions at the top, housing two distinctive circular camera modules with a dual LED flash.

The phone also features a 6.78-inch LCD screen, with a selfie camera located in the punch-hole at the center of the screen, and a speaker in the top portion.

The fingerprint sensor is integrated into the power button, and the frame includes volume control buttons.

The POVA 5 Pro 5G phone supports dual SIM cards in a slot on the left side of the phone, along with a dedicated slot for a microSD memory card.

Moreover, the phone has a secondary speaker in the top portion, and the speakers at the bottom have a grille design. It also includes a USB-C port for charging and data transfer, along with a microphone and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

This version features a plastic frame with a glossy finish made of polycarbonate material, providing a luxurious look to the phone’s design.

Tecno’s POVA 5 Pro 5G phone features a 6.78-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 2460 by 1080 pixels and a display density of 396 pixels per inch.

The screen offers good display quality, with decent performance in contrast to an IPS LCD screen. The maximum brightness reaches 580 nits, although users may face some difficulties when browsing the phone during daylight hours.

The POVA 5 Pro 5G features thin bezels around the screen, although the bottom portion has a slightly thicker frame. The screen occupies 84.7% of the phone’s frame, and the dual speakers provide high audio performance.

Tecno provides earphones inside the phone’s box to support users with a distinct audio experience through the 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Tecno POVA 5 Pro 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6080 chipset, with a Mali-G57 MC2 graphics card, 8GB of RAM, and 8GB of virtual RAM.

Moreover, with the phone set to average settings, users can edit videos and play games, although the phone’s performance decreases when settings are raised to the highest level. Additionally, the phone may experience some heat generation when running intensive tasks and games.

The phone scored 1324 points on the 3DMark platform 948 points on GeekBench 6 in single-core tests and 2388 points in multi-core tests.

Review of Tecno POVA 5 Pro 5G Gaming Phone

The POVA 5 Pro 5G features a 50-megapixel main sensor, with a 0.08-megapixel sensor for depth of field. The phone also includes a 16-megapixel selfie camera.

The camera delivers overall good performance, although it does not perform optimally in low-light conditions. However, the phone’s camera performs very well when shooting in daylight or bright lighting conditions.

The same applies to the front camera, which produces good shots. However, image processing may later result in a reddish skin tone. Nevertheless, the selfie camera performs well for sharing on social media platforms.

In video recording performance, the Tecno POVA 5 Pro 5G supports 2K video recording at 30 frames per second. However, Tecno does not provide any stabilization features for this version, so users may need a separate accessory for image stabilization.

The Tecno POVA 5 Pro 5G launches with a 5000mAh battery capacity, supporting the phone’s continuous use throughout the day with internet browsing, social media apps, and phone data usage until the battery drops to 20%.

The phone supports fast charging technology with a 68W power rating, capable of charging the battery from zero to 50% in 20 minutes.

Moreover, the phone features 5G network connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11, GPS, FM Radio, and Bluetooth. It also includes a USB-C 2.0 port.

Tecno supports the POVA 5 Pro 5G phone with the Android 13 operating system and HIOS 13 interface, providing a smooth and clear interface with several customization options.

The interface includes the “Free Fire” theme with graphic icons. Additionally, the phone comes with a limited number of pre-installed apps, including AHA Games and Carlcare. Game Space, Hi Translate, and Palm Store are also available, and these apps can be easily uninstalled.

Furthermore, the interface features several navigation gestures and a dark mode, along with a range of customization options. Additionally, the phone comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that offers fast performance, along with support for face recognition technology.
