OnePlus has rolled out the Android 15 Beta 1 update for the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open. While the first beta release of Android 15 isn’t without its flaws, it brings security enhancements and some minor changes to the user interface.

Additionally, the OnePlus 12 also receives the new “Repair Mode” feature with the update, which makes it easier to protect your privacy when sending your phone for repair.

Typically, you’d need to back up and wipe all your data from your phone before sending it to the technician for repair. After the repair, you’d have to reinstall everything from scratch, which can be time-consuming and cumbersome.

Now, OnePlus 12 users can update to Android 15 Beta 1 and find the Repair Mode feature by navigating to Settings > System & Updates > Repair Mode. However, there is still room for improvement in the implementation.

When you select the Repair Mode option, you’ll need to follow the setup process, which takes a minute or two before reaching the home screen as a separate user.

Upon exiting Repair Mode, the phone will wipe all the data stored during the process and return to its previous state.

Similar applications have already been seen from Samsung and Pixel. Samsung introduced this feature in OneUI 5 based on Android 13, which was called Maintenance Mode.

Google introduced the feature as Repair Mode for its Pixel devices starting from Android 14 QPR1.

While OnePlus’s implementation of Repair Mode may not be as polished as what we’ve seen from other brands, it’s still good to save the time and effort it provides.

Nevertheless, we hope the company addresses the minor inconvenience before its official release and inclusion in the stable release.
