The Insta360 X4 camera was officially launched today with an 8K video recording feature, along with an extended battery life and several improvements.

The Insta360 X4 camera belongs to the 360-degree camera category and is the first to feature 8K video recording at 30 frames per second, with support for H.265 encoding. The streaming rate has also been enhanced to 200 megabits per second.

The camera also supports video recording in 5.7K resolution at 60 frames per second, or in 4K resolution at 100 frames per second.

Additionally, the camera comes with a “Me” mode that focuses on the user to keep them within the frame at all times, eliminating the need for later processing. This mode supports 4K video recording at 30 frames per second and supports 1080p resolution with up to 3x zoom.

The camera also supports the “MaxView” mode for recording videos with a 170-degree field of view, in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. In the “Timelapse” mode, video recording is enhanced to 11K resolution.

On the other hand, the camera features a 2.5-inch touch screen with Gorilla Glass protection, along with two fisheye lenses. The cameras also come with removable lens guards to prevent scratches.

The camera is powered by a 2290 mAh battery for up to 135 minutes of recording time in 5.7K resolution at 30 frames per second, or up to 75 minutes of recording time in 8K resolution.

The Insta360 X4 camera also features waterproofing up to 10 meters deep and comes with a transparent diving case for deeper depths of up to 50 meters.

Additionally, the camera efficiently operates in cold environments up to -20 degrees Celsius during skiing trips and weighs 203 grams.

The camera is based on a 1/2-inch sensor to support still shots with a resolution of 72 megapixels and is set to be available starting today on Amazon for $500.
