New details posted on the X platform have outlined preliminary expectations for the next generation of gaming consoles, including the PS6 and Xbox, which are expected to come with either high pricing or limited performance upgrades according to these details.

Sony revealed in the financial report for the third quarter of 2023 a decline in PlayStation 5 sales. The “Genki” report also confirmed the challenges Sony faces in generating profits from PS5 sales in recent times.

The report compared sales of previous versions of PlayStation consoles to the current PS5 in sales figures. Additionally, a tweet from “Kepler” on the X platform commented on Sony’s challenges in achieving profits with the rising costs of the latest gaming console configurations.

Kepler also commented on statements made by Hiroki Totoki in Sony’s recent financial report, elaborating on expectations for the increased cost of the PS6 and the next generation of Xbox consoles.

It is also noted that the new generation of GAAFETs/CFETs transistors will come at a higher cost compared to the current FinFET transistors, which have maintained a stable pricing level for a long period.

The upcoming gaming consoles are expected to include GAAFETs/CFETs transistors, which offer higher efficiency and smaller size. Therefore, the upcoming PS6 and Xbox consoles are expected to come at a significantly higher price, with the anticipated trend for gaming console manufacturers to adopt GAAFETs/CFETs transistors in the next generation of gaming consoles to achieve the desired performance upgrades.

The report also asserts that if manufacturers reuse current configurations, the expected upgrade in the next generation of gaming consoles will be limited.
