Motorola announced today the Edge 50 Pro smartphone, which launches with a 144Hz refresh rate on the screen and a 50-megapixel selfie camera.

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro features a curved pOLED display with a resolution of 1220 pixels, supporting “Pantone Validated True Color” standards and boasting a brightness ratio of 2000 nits. The screen also supports HDR10+ technology and comes with a Gorilla Glass protective layer.

The selfie camera, located in a punch-hole at the center of the screen, offers a 50-megapixel resolution, autofocus, and an f/1.9 aperture. Additionally, the fingerprint sensor technology is integrated under the screen with very fast performance.

In the rear camera setup, Motorola offers a 50-megapixel main sensor with “AI-Powered Pro-Grade” artificial intelligence, optical stabilization support, and an f/1.4 aperture. It also includes a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with optical and hybrid stabilization of up to 30x zoom, along with a 13-megapixel sensor for ultra-wide-angle shots and macro capabilities.

The cameras leverage artificial intelligence technology, and the Motorola logo appears in the middle of the back cover. The phone features a “Mazzucchelli 1849” Italian design with a silicone leather design for improved grip.

The right frame of the phone houses the main power button and volume controls, while the bottom has a USB-C port, SIM slot, microphone, and speaker. The top includes a microphone and speaker, and the phone is branded with “Dolby Atmos.”

The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, with options for either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It runs on Android 14 with the new Hello UI interface, with Motorola committed to system upgrades for up to 3 years and security software updates for up to 4 years. The phone packs a 4500mAh battery with support for 125W fast charging.

It is IP68-rated for water and dust resistance, supports 5G networks and NFC, and features stereo speakers with spatial audio and Hi-Res audio standards. Additionally, it supports 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse charging.
