Microsoft has announced a new generation of Surface laptops featuring a redesigned build and Copilot Plus support, boasting a battery life of over 22 hours.

During its conference today, Microsoft introduced the latest Surface Laptop models, which come with a new design characterized by thin bezels and two size options: 13.8 inches and 15 inches. These devices are powered by the Snapdragon X Elite chip based on Qualcomm’s Arm architecture.

AI technology is a key selling point for these devices, which are branded as “Copilot+ PCs.”

The new Surface Laptops integrate over 40 AI models with the Windows 11 update, supported by the new Hexagon NPU neural processing unit.

The thin bezels house an enhanced “PixelSense” touchscreen that supports HDR and Dolby Vision IQ. The laptops are capable of 600 nits brightness and feature a wide color gamut meeting P3 standards. The devices also include a Studio Camera situated in the bezels rather than as a screen notch.

These laptops feature a dedicated Copilot key, and a haptic-responsive touchpad, and come in two color options: Sapphire and Dune.

Microsoft emphasizes that these new models offer more ports and are branded simply as “Surface Laptop,” without any generational number.

The new Surface Laptops are 86% faster than the Surface Laptop 5 and offer double the image processing speed compared to the MacBook Air.

Copilot+ PCs come preloaded with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Photoshop Express, optimized for Arm Windows devices.

Microsoft claims that the 15-inch Surface Laptop offers longer battery life than both the Surface Laptop 5 and MacBook Air, providing over 22 hours of video playback or 15 hours of web browsing.

The new devices come with 16GB or 32GB of RAM and storage options of 225GB, 512GB, or 1TB SSD.

Pre-orders for the Surface Laptop start today at a base price of $1000, with shipments beginning on June 18.
