During its official conference, Microsoft announced the new Surface Pro Copilot Plus, featuring an OLED screen and a redesigned keyboard.

In previous Surface Pro models, Microsoft alternated between Intel and Arm processors, with the latter often delivering slower performance and higher pricing. This year, Microsoft introduced the Surface Pro 10 with an Intel processor, focusing primarily on IT tasks.

Additionally, Microsoft launched the Surface Pro Copilot Plus without a version number. This model is powered by Arm processors, but Microsoft assures that it delivers significantly better performance compared to previous Arm versions.

The new Surface Pro Copilot Plus runs on Windows 11, which enhances its performance. Microsoft claims it offers 58% better performance compared to the fastest MacBook Air with M3 processors.

Devices under the “Copilot Plus” brand can handle up to 40 trillion operations per second, compared to 18 trillion on Apple’s M3-powered devices. The new Surface Pro can support 45 TOPS.

Microsoft states that this model provides 23% faster performance and 58% better sustainability performance, making it 90% faster than the Surface Pro 9. The Surface Pro Copilot Plus also boasts a battery life of up to 14 hours for video playback.

This model comes as a tablet with a kickstand and a detachable keyboard. It features slim bezels and a 13-inch OLED screen, along with two USB-C ports and a front-facing “quad-HD” camera.

The new detachable keyboard, named “Flex,” can easily attach to or detach from the Surface Pro Copilot Plus. The keyboard has a 14% larger touchpad. It costs $350 separately, and with the Surface Pen, the price rises to $450.

The Surface Pro Copilot Plus includes several AI features supported by the integrated NPU, allowing on-device AI processing without needing to upload data to the cloud or subscribe to services.

Notable AI features include “Recall,” which retrieves user activity data and returns it to the desktop. Real-time live translation for video calls supports 40 languages. In Windows Photos, the new “Super Resolution” tool aims to enhance the quality of old photos.

The Surface Pro Copilot Plus is available for pre-order today, with shipping starting on June 18. The base model, featuring a Snapdragon X Plus chip, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage with an LCD screen, starts at $1,000. The premium model with an OLED screen, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage is priced at $1,500.
