The launch of the Pixel 8a phone from Google is imminent, possibly in May at the annual I/O developer conference.

We’ve already seen this in CAD-based renders and recently heard rumors about it being more expensive than the Pixel 7a. Since then, many have wondered about the upgrades this phone might bring to justify the price increase, and today a new leak gives us some answers.

Leaked specifications of the Google Pixel 8a phone

The Pixel 8a will have a refresh rate of 120Hz for the first time in the Pixel series and will be powered by the Tensor G3 processor, just like the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

The Pixel 8a screen will have a peak HDR brightness of 1400 nits per square meter, and the overall design of the new mid-range phone will match that of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The 8a will also have DisplayPort output support and the same cameras as the 7a.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the Pixel 8a is its expanded availability. While the Pixel 7a is available in only 21 countries, the Pixel 8a will be launched in those countries as well as in new ones: Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
