Ridley has unveiled its first electric road bike, known as the Ridley E-Grifn.

This new electric bike is perfectly suited for urban commuting as well as off-road adventures, boasting some impressive features.

The company offers both pedal-assist and throttle-assist versions of the Grifn. The E-Grifn reflects Ridley’s strict design ethos and comes equipped with a Mahle X20 motor unit. The drive unit itself contributes approximately 3.2 kg to the overall weight of the electric bike.

The torque sensor for the bike is capable of providing a maximum torque of 55 Newton meters, which is a decent output for a hub motor.

The Mahle X20 drive unit provides virtually zero mechanical resistance at speeds exceeding 15.5 miles per hour (25 km/h).

The Ridley E-Grifn bike features a built-in 350-watt-hour battery along with an optional range extender with a capacity of 171 watts. The E-Grifn can be fully recharged in just three and a half hours, achieving an 80% charge in two hours.

The bike features a 72-degree steerer angle stretching between the steepest angles of a high-performance road bike and a shallow gravel bike. It also has a lower bottom bracket than other high-performance road bikes and 420mm base supports. This design allows the e-Grifn to generate the required optimal power when accelerating.

The bike is versatile for both road and simple off-road riding conditions and will come with tires up to 42mm in diameter.

Buyers can choose to eliminate the front derailleur clamp to suit their gear preferences.

Both mechanical and electronic gear shifting options are available with the E-Grifn. Customers can customize their preferences for the Ridley E-Grifn and Grifn via the company’s online configuration tool. This also includes the desired bike paint.

The price of Ridley E-Grifn starts from 5499 euros (5910 dollars) and can be purchased directly through the company’s website.
