Google Podcasts Service Won't Be Available Globally After June 2024

Google has already confirmed that it will be shutting down its podcast service in the United States this month, but it hasn’t disclosed anything regarding users from other countries.

Google Podcasts is an international service, so it makes sense for the company to clarify the situation for users who are not based in the United States.

While the podcast service will be discontinued in the United States in April, international users will be able to continue using the service for a few more months.

Google recently updated its support article (via 9to5google), confirming its plan to globally shut down the podcast service starting mid-June.

Users outside the United States will be able to use Google Podcasts until mid to late June 2024. All users worldwide can migrate their subscriptions to Google Podcasts or export them until July 29, 2024.

Podcast users are advised to transfer their subscriptions to YouTube Music or export them for use in another podcast app.

However, keep in mind that children’s accounts cannot transfer their subscriptions to YouTube Music. Also, migration to YouTube Music is only supported in countries where YouTube Music is available. For example, in South Korea, YouTube Music is only available to premium subscribers.

It’s worth mentioning that all Google Podcasts data will remain available in Takeout for one year. Google will begin deleting Google Podcasts data for all users after one year.

Users can permanently delete their data before the one-year deadline if they wish to do so.
