We are now witnessing the rollout of the Material 3 redesign for Google Password Manager, which is being widely deployed on Android.

This is a server-side update with version 24.16.16 of Google Play Services. Restarting the device will help load the new user interface.

Instead of a single feed-like experience as on the web, Google has introduced a long bottom bar from Material 3.

The first tab, “Passwords,” features a pill-shaped search bar at the top. Above that, you have the “Password Manager” where a back arrow and profile switcher remain on the right for accessing “Manage passwords on this device.”

An “Add password” prompt appears before the rest of the stored credentials, which are no longer separated by lines. Meanwhile, app/service icons are now slightly larger.

Next is the “Password Checkup” tab, where each visit to this middle tab reinitiates the scan for compromised, reused, and weak passwords.

At the bottom, you will find the “Upgrade to passkey” option to “Simplify your sign-in.”

The “Settings” tab remains unchanged from before, still using Material 3 toggle switches.

The home screen shortcut option remains, creating an app icon—named “Passwords”—with a badge and resulting in two keys.

On Android tablets, this redesign uses a horizontal navigation bar.

For comparison, the Password Manager is part of the Google Search and Chrome apps on iOS. The browser also features a home screen widget that lets you immediately search for your credentials.
