Google has placed Gemini in the sidebar of all its major platforms, such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Today, it is also rolling out the AI-powered assistant to Gmail.

The service uses the Gemini 1.5 Pro model with a more extended context window and more advanced reasoning. The model can summarize email threads, suggest replies, help draft an email, or conduct smart searches for specific information within emails.

Google provided some examples of questions you can ask Gemini, including “What is the purchase order number for my agency?” and “When is the next Teams meeting?” According to a press release, the response will come without having to leave Gmail at all.

Starting today, Gemini can also be used in the Gmail app on Android and iOS to analyze email threads and display a summary view with crucial points.

This enhancement’s primary purpose is to help people spend less time reading long email threads on a smaller screen.

Another feature, contextual thoughtful reply and Gmail Q&A will soon be available for mobile devices. The full rollout starts today.

It is worth noting that it is available to Google Workspace customers with the Gemini Business and Enterprise add-on, the Gemini Education and Education Premium add-ons, and Google One AI Premium.
