Google App Introduces “Notifications” Tab on Android

The Google app on Android has added a dedicated “Notifications” feed to its bottom bar, featuring a standard bell icon. Notifications now join Discover, Search, and Saved as the fourth item in the bottom bar.

This update underscores that the Google app is one of the last first-party clients to be updated to Material 3 design. Even the Google app for iOS has been migrated, with the latest update removing accompanying text labels to match Gmail.

The notifications feed displays alerts from Google Search, including current and upcoming weather, flight information, sports scores, available movies/TV shows, the word of the day, and more. They are grouped by “Today” and “Earlier.”

Clicking on an alert loads the search term associated with the notification. At the same time, the full menu for each item allows you to delete it, stop receiving such messages, and send feedback.
