GamerTech has revealed the Magma Glove with active membrane heating at the PAX East 2024 event.

Designed for optimal hand performance during cold video gaming sessions, the esports glove utilizes a reflective layer to retain heat alongside thin layers of graphene carbon heaters in key areas of the hand and wrist to maintain optimal hand temperature.

The glove features timed heating cycles in addition to three heat settings.

Esports have now gained recognition worldwide by the International Olympic Committee as a legitimate sporting activity, allowing competitive gamers to earn money through tournament wins.

Similar to other athletes, the temperature of video gamers affects their reaction times. Hand dexterity decreases in all activities when the temperature is extremely cold, so even a slightly slower response time can lead to loss during gameplay.

A study conducted on over 40,000 esports players found that optimal gaming performance occurred when the average temperature ranged from 10 to 20 degrees Celsius (approximately 50 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit), with a peak around 16 degrees Celsius (approximately 60 degrees Fahrenheit).

Anyone who has been in a cold operating room can understand why surgeons prefer these temperatures.

Since players cannot control the temperature of tournament rooms where they compete, heated gloves are one solution for cold rooms.

Additional features of the Magma glove include an exposed fingertip for precise clicking and mouse wheel scrolling, a glide patch for smooth hand movement, glove compression for muscle support, and moisture absorption to maintain dry hand comfort.
