Chrome Now Allows iPhone to Customize Toolbar and Carousel

Table of content

Chrome for iPhone and iPad has introduced a significant improvement with the ability to customize the toolbar. When you tap the full three-dot menu on the right, the menu slides up.

This menu houses the carousel and various action lists. Scrolling down, you’ll find the new “Customize Toolbar” button.

Previously, the top circular shelf “displayed frequently used items first.” Now, you can turn off the “Smart Toolbar Sorting.”

You can remove everything else from the library: bookmarks, downloads, history, password manager (which has a lovely home screen widget that opens the keyboard when you tap on it to let you search for stored credentials), reading list, recent tabs, price tracking, and new features. Meanwhile, you can reorder and deselect the action list.

This option would be great for Chrome on Android. The full menu (on a Pixel 8) extends the entire height of the screen, but some scrolling is still required. Moving the address bar to the bottom would also be fantastic.
