The latest leaks suggest that Apple may be following in Samsung’s footsteps by introducing a distinctive screen with a matte, scratch-resistant design for the iPhone 17 series.
Samsung introduced the Galaxy S24 Ultra with a layer of “Gorilla Glass Armor” that is matte and scratch-resistant. Today, leaks reveal Apple’s plans to bring this matte and scratch-resistant design to the iPhone 17 series, scheduled for official release in 2025.
The leaks confirm that the iPhone 17 screen will feature higher scratch resistance compared to the current Ceramic Shield design.

The screen is expected to have a layer of matte, anti-reflective glass. The leaks also indicate that Apple has not finished preparing these configurations to support the upcoming iPhone 16 series this year, so we anticipate this change in the 2025 versions of the iPhone.
It is worth noting that Corning, the company behind Gorilla Glass Armor, emphasizes that this design supports a 75% reduction in reflections and boasts scratch resistance that is 4 times better than competitors.
