A new report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reveals that Apple is developing a new MacBook model with a 20-inch foldable screen.

Although Apple has not yet entered the foldable device market, the tech giant has already filed numerous patents.

Today, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo details Apple’s plans to develop foldable devices. He confirmed that Apple has begun developing a MacBook with a 20.25-inch foldable screen.

The MacBook’s screen is expected to fold to a size equivalent to a 14-inch device. Apple reportedly works on an 18.8-inch model that would fold to a 13-inch length.

The report highlights Apple’s aim to minimize the folding crease on the screen to the highest level, which increases the cost. The foldable display panel alone is estimated to cost between $600 and $650, while the hinge mechanism ranges from $200 to $250.

However, the cost of producing the MacBook Fold is expected to decrease if Apple’s suppliers can improve production yields, thereby reducing costs when the device is officially launched.

It is noteworthy that Apple’s mixed reality headset was launched for $3500. The MacBook Fold is anticipated to be priced above $3000 when it hits the market.
