Apple seems to have halted production of its FineWoven accessories, according to a new leak by the leaker Kosutami.

These accessories were launched last September as part of Apple’s sustainability commitment and were touted as a durable alternative to leather. However, it appears that the company’s claims about durability did not hold up over time.

Kosutami, known for accurate leaks related to Apple products, shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the company ended production of FineWoven accessories due to the material’s lack of durability.

Now that FineWoven accessories have ceased production, Apple may be looking for a new material for its advanced accessory lineup. The leaker suggests that it won’t be leather.

The leaker also accurately revealed Apple’s plans for new Apple Watch bands and matching iPhone cases made of “woven fabric material” over a month before their official release.

Additionally, Kosutami also shared the first images of FineWoven accessories before their official announcement.

Last September, Apple replaced its leather accessories with FineWoven material, claiming it to be more environmentally friendly, describing it as “luxurious and durable cotton fabric” made from 68% post-consumer recycled polyester.

The accessories were also not accessible to everyone. For instance, FineWoven iPhone cases cost $59, MagSafe wallets are around $59, AirTag holders are approximately $35, and Apple Watch bands are around $99.

However, customer reception to FineWoven accessories was negative, with complaints citing poor durability and disappointing quality.
