The new generation of iPad Air and iPad Pro devices comes with cellular connectivity models, but these models only support eSIM.

During the “Let Loose” event, Apple unveiled the new versions of iPad Pro and iPad Air, which include several changes in design and specifications.

Apple specifically introduced the cellular versions with eSIM support only, so these versions do not come with a SIM card slot.

eSIM

This change is contrary to previous versions of iPad Air and iPad Pro devices, which included an actual SIM card slot to support cellular networks.

On the other hand, Apple did not disclose the reason for eliminating the actual SIM card slot in the new devices and replacing it with an eSIM. However, some speculations suggest that Apple made this decision to reduce the thickness of the new devices.
