Oppo Introduces Reno12 Pro and Reno12 for Global Markets

Oppo recently announced the global release of the Reno12 Pro and Reno12 smartphones, which differ from the versions launched in the Chinese market.

The new Reno12 models are powered by the Dimensity 7300-Energy processor, a chip co-developed by Oppo and MediaTek to enhance energy efficiency.

Both models feature 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM. The base model comes with 256GB of storage, while the Pro version offers 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage and is available with 12GB of RAM. Both phones support external storage via microSD cards up to 1TB.

Both phones sport a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, and a 20:9 aspect ratio. They also support HDR10/HDR10+ and can reach a peak brightness of 1200 nits.

The Oppo Reno12 Pro is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the standard model uses the new Gorilla Glass 7i.

The Oppo Reno12 Pro features a 50MP primary camera with a “Sony LYT600” sensor, 1/1.95 sensor size, 26mm focal length, and f/1.8 aperture, supporting optical image stabilization (OIS). It also includes an 8MP ultra-wide camera with an IMX355 sensor and f/2.2 aperture, offering professional-grade portrait photography.

The camera setup includes a 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor with f/2.0 aperture and a 47mm focal length. The front camera uses the same 50MP sensor with a 21mm focal length and autofocus.

These cameras support bokeh and AI portrait modes and 4K video recording at 30fps.

The standard Reno12 uses the same ultra-wide sensor as the Pro model but lacks a telephoto sensor, instead featuring a 2MP macro camera. Its front camera is 32MP.

AI features in the Reno12 series include “AI Clear Face” for enhanced clarity of faces, hair, and eyes and “AI Best Face” to ensure open eyes in photos. Oppo has also improved its AI-based eraser tool for photo editing.

Google’s Gemini chatbot supports additional AI tools for writing, chatting, and summarizing. The Recording app can create text summaries of recordings and organize them by time, location, and other details.

Both models have a 5000mAh battery with 80W fast charging, but they do not include a charging adapter. The phones support USB-PD charging.

The Reno12 Pro has a slim design at 7.40mm thickness and comes in black and silver, weighing 181 grams. The standard Reno12 is 7.6mm thick and weighs 177 grams. Both phones are IP65-rated for water and dust resistance.

The Oppo Reno12 will be available in Europe with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage for €500, while the Reno12 Pro will be priced at €600 for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage model.
